A key advantage of installing an Air Source Heat Pump is the versatility of the technology, allowing cooling in the summer months and space heating in the winter months also all your hot water needs. The Government Renewable Heat incentive grant makes the technology even more affordable to run.

Depending on the brand you purchase, the lower end brand Air Source Heat Pump units are no longer able to extract heat from the ambient air efficiently and tends to be around -10 to -15 degrees although the higher end brands will extract heat efficiently up to -18 to -22 degrees Celsius.

Seasonal Coefficient of Performance, Heat Pumps are designed to be efficient in winter and the summer months due to the SCOP and COP is a way to measure heat efficiency by comparing input power to produce the heat and output heat produced. Typically Heat Pumps run at a COP of 3.2 depending on outside temperatures this means that heat pumps are 320% efficient. The higher the COP and SCOP the better.

Low Maintenance, in general maintenance is carried out annually, but as the owner you can do the standard checks such as cleaning filters, clearing leaves & dust from the fan ensuring that its running freely.

Long Lifespan, Air Heat Pumps when maintained tend to have an expected life span of 20 years, so when considering a boiler over a heat pump we tend to find that the life span for both systems are around the same, although a boiler lose efficiency quicker that a Heat Pump.

Due to the fact that Air Source Heat Pumps have a lower heat temperature output than a boiler, this means that underfloor heating is an advantage. Although when retrofitting you can generally use your existing radiators but you may need to replace some to allow for a larger surface area to ensure your room still reaches the correct ambient temperatures.

In order to benefit fully from your new Air Source Heat Pump you should ensure that your property is well insulated, this will allow for the Heat pump to ease for the Heat Pump to maintain a comfortable ambulant temperature throughout your property, although this would be the case for any space heating system in your home.

Lower Efficiency below 0°C in general Heat Pumps will loss efficiency at this temperature, although this is where the SCOP (Seasonal co-efficient of performance) come into play, when calculating a heat pump this is taken into account of the annual period.

Your mains Gas supply has always been a very cheap source of energy and in some cases the cost of electric vs cost of Gas can make the cost of running a Heat Pump seem more expensive, although Gas rates in time will be going up as more homes switch to this form of renewable. The way to help mitigate further energy costs is by using other forms of energy such as Solar, this technology works conjunction with your ASHP.

ASHP fan unit can be noisy, although our solutions can be horizontal enclosures with absorptive panels, helping to reduce internal reverberations and high performance acoustic louvres. This in most cases can be overcome by the correct sitting and installation of the unit.

The Daikin Altherma 3 H HT has been designed for lower acoustic levels to meet the needs of urban areas and homeowner expectations.

Daikin Altherma 3 H HT offers greater flexibility by having a low sound mode. In standard sound mode, the unit produces a sound pressure of 38 dBA at 3 metres. The low sound mode reduces the sound pressure even further by 3 dB(A) at 3 metres to reach 35 dB(A), representing a real reduction of half the sound level!
